Despite Angry Protests, UC Regents Raise Administrators' Salaries →

abadidea:

Regents of the University of California, meeting for the first time since campus police used pepper spray and riot batons to disperse student protests at Berkeley and Davis, listened to nearly three hours of public complaints about those incidents and tuition increases before chanting protesters disrupted the meeting and drove them from the room.

The Regents then reconvened in a smaller room down the hall from the protesters, where they voted to raise the salaries of nearly a dozen university administrators and lawyers by as much as 21.9 percent.”

So this has been in my room since high school. I’ve moved it several times. I just now realized how relevant it is. My high school was on Wall St. (a different one) and my brother stole it a decade before when he went there. I’ve had it since. I think it’s really interesting that I’m supportive of Occupy Wall St. when all this time, Wall St. has been occupying me. View Larger

This is truly amazing video. The Chancellor of UC Davis, who called police to the campus to pepper-spray peaceful protestors, has to walk past those same students, sitting silently with arms linked, as she goes to her car. The ultimate walk of shame for someone who probably doesn’t deserve such respectful treatment. The protestors deserve a lot of credit for making such a strong, dramatic statement with nothing but silence, solidarity, and staring.

The dog was named Parrot. This was taken moments before Parrot was murdered by the cop. The cop drove his knee into the middle of Parrot’s back while stretching Parrot’s forelegs behind him, as one would do with an armed criminal. Without waiting to determine whether this technique would calm Parrot, the cop grabbed Parrot, lifted him off the ground, and brought him to the top of the concrete staircase. He threw Parrot over the banister, down twelve steps, and onto the concrete floor. Then, the cop stood at the top of the stairs, drew his weapon, and executed Parrot. Aaron, the animal’s owner, cannot recall the number of shots fired. Witnesses state that Parrot was not harming anybody and was simply frightened by the cop.
